How to approach Desktop Mate mods

  1. Find the original creator. Prefer the creator's verified profile or the platform they explicitly link.
  2. Read what it changes. Check the model format, Desktop Mate version, required tools, and uninstall instructions.
  3. Check the license. Fan work, paid work, and copyrighted character assets can have different limits.
  4. Scan files before opening them. A model archive is not a reason to run an unknown installer or turn off protection.

When to stop
